Strawberry Strudel
Number 3 in the 4-part meal. Using pastry puff again. This recipe will make about two strudel squares.
Strawberry Strudel
2 puff pillows - halved

Cream Cheese and Strawberry Filling
2 oz. Cream Cheese (roughly 4 Tbsp)
4 Tbsp Powdered Sugar (plus extra for dusting)
1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract
3 Tbsp strawberry jam (plus 4 Tbsp extra - optional)
Fresh Sliced Strawberries (optional)
Mix cream cheese, confectioner sugar and vanilla extract in a small bowl. Heat strawberry jam in microwave to 15 to soften and combine with cream cheese mix.
With the puff pillows already halved, take the bottom slice of the pillow and spread a nice helping of the strawberry filling. Optional: You may add some of the additional strawberry jam on top of the cream cheese in place of the fresh sliced strawberries or add both.
Then place the top half of the puff pillow and dust with a light or heavy coating of powdered sugar.
Yum!
this is one of my kids favourite.Looks delicious :)
ReplyDeleteSweetipie: They were. Your kids will love this too.
ReplyDeleteI love all the puff pastry combos. They make stuff seem so sophisticated when they are really so easy. (I am of course talking about the store bought puff pastry, not the kind you make yourself - not so easy) =^)
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful! I think my husband would love these!
ReplyDeleteoyster culture: The list seems endless as to they they can be used for. I may try to make it from scratch at some point or other.
ReplyDeleteJen: Give it try. Let me know what he thinks of them. ;-)
This looks easy! I think I would have a hard time not devouring a few dozen of these.
ReplyDeleteJoie de vivre: I was close to eating both myself.
ReplyDeleteThese look good.. I don't know why but I have had no desire to make anything with puff pastry even though I like to eat it. But seeing this recipe is the motivation I need to pick some up and try this. I bet you strawberry freezer jam and sliced strawberries would be killer.
ReplyDeletepuff pastry is indeed very versatile.. makes our life easier, doesn't it? This looks good. Yum!
ReplyDeletealice: Strawberry freezer jam and fresh strawberries, yum. Now there's an idea. =)
ReplyDeletejescel: Thanks. Puff pastry is a lifesaver in terms of baking.
I wish I had this for breakfast today. Look beautiful.
ReplyDeletePam: This goes well with a nice cup of coffee or hot cocoa in my case.
