BSI: Winner Prize

Oy vey!! I totally feel awful. I really do. I'm new to this whole challenge stuff and I left out the real prize for the BSI (Blogger Secret Ingredient) winner. I'm terribly sorry. So I am making amends for my mistake. Along with me remaking the winning recipe, the winner (Parita of Parita's World) will be receiving these really cool items.

The one the right are lovely crochet coasters and glass cup covers handmade from the Philippines as well as a neat sushi bamboo mat. I have one myself and it's really neat.

So Parita, please email your address and I'll get these to you. Anyway...head on over to The Ungourmet for this week's ingredient. Again, I apologize. I feel really awful for leaving out the real prize.

BSI: Bell Pepper Winner

First, I'd like to thank those who submitted a recipe to last week's BSI (Blogger Secret Ingredient) challenge. I had chosen the bell pepper because I love the stuff and they can be used in so many different ways. And I was right. I'm amazed by the turnout and I'm equally blown away by the creativity of all of you. With the list below, they're all so temptingly good that the decision was definitely a tough one. I spent a few good hours just looking over all the submissions. Literally. It's a smorgisborg of bell peppers. Yum!

Here's the final list of recipes (in no particular order):

Christina at Dinner at Christina's : Stuffed Green Peppers
Jen at My Kitchen Addiction: Tex-Mex Lettuce Wraps
Rebecca at Chow and Chatter: Plantain and Fish Soup
Sophia at Burp and Slurp~: Double Bell Pepper-Grits with Poached Egg
Eric at Eric Rivera Cooks: Sweet Peppers
Ann at Pig Pig's Corner: Caramelized Pork in Bell Pepper Sauce
Parita at Parita's World: Cheesy Bell Pepper Swirls
Pooja at My Experience With Cooking: Kung Pao Chicken
Sweta at Bonne Nutrition: Stuffed Green Pepper with Chili Tofu
Laura at Hey What's For Dinner Mom: Curried Hot Salad
Sarah at Winged Snail: Black Bean Dip
Ruth at Plentiful Plants: Devil Dawgs
Reeni at Cinnamon & Spice: Caramelized Green Pepper & Sausage Pasta w/ Fresh Tomato Pesto
Patty at The Organized McTatty: Gnocchi with red peppers, zucchini and summer squash
Alice at Savory Sweet Life: Red Bell Pepper Relish
Paola at Tangled Noodle: "Touched By An Angel" Hair Pasta
Janetha at Meals & Moves: Stoplight Stuffed Bell Peppers

So you can see my dilemma of having to pick the winner. They're all just so darn delicious. Since I began my hosting week sort of like Iron Chef, I shall finish in the same way. The chairman usually says something before he announces the winner, but since I said what I needed to say at the top, let's just cut to the chase.

This week's winner is.........

(Cue Iron Chef dramatic winner announcement music.)

CHEESY BELL PEPPER SWIRLS
by Parita from Parita's World

(*Cue Iron Chef victory music*)

Congrats, Parita!!! You are the BSI: Bell Pepper winner. As the winner, I've decided that I'm going to recreate your recipe on this site. So keep an eye out in the next week or so because Cheesy Bell Pepper Swirls will be making a cameo on Bread + Butter. Please take a look at Parita's awesome swirls as well as the other submissions listed above. They're really awesome recipes and blogs written by some great people. Some of them I've been following for a while and some I've now added to the google reader.

Now I present to you the next host. I've recently started reading her blog and I love her simple down home way of cooking. The host for this week is Kim from The Ungourmet. I'm sure she'll be a great host as well as great judge. Please go to her blog and check out some of her cool recipes she also as well as this week's secret ingredient.

Thanks again to all the participants. I had a great time playing host and seeing all these wonderful recipes pop up from such a diverse and loved ingredient.

Happy eating!!!

BSI: Blogger Secret Ingredient

What?? A double post from Jenn?!?! Yes, I've double posted. But with good intention. Sophia from Burp and Slurp passed the torch onto me to host this week's BSI (Blogger Secret Ingredient). I couldn't pass up this opportunity. I've put a history list of the BSI ingredients near the bottom, if you're wondering what they've been thus far. Let's cut to the chase and get right to it because I know you're all anxious as to what this week's ingredient is.

But first, the "how-to" of BSI:

*Make or create a recipe that uses the chosen ingredient by Sunday night (June 7th, 2009).

*Post about it and link back to me. If you don’t have a blog, you may email me at jenn@jenniferrazon.com with your recipe.

*Comment on this post so I know that you've entered.

*Most importantly...have fun.

So without further adu, let me introduce this week's secret ingredient:

(*insert Iron Chef dramatic music here*)

BELL PEPPER

(The pic above is courtesy of whoever posted it on wikipedia.)

Insert extreme close-up shots of those who will be participating. Which would be all of you reading this, right? RIGHT?

I've used these tasty veggies in a few recipes already like kabob skewers in my Pinoy Style BBQ, veggie stir fry in some Teryiaki Glazed Chicken Tacos, & the Chinese dish Sweet & Sour "See"-Food. There's so many amazing and incredibly creative cooks out there that I'm always amazed with they come up with. Winner will be announced next Monday (June 8th, 2009) as well as who will be the host of the next week. Get crack-a-lackin'!!

So now you brave beautiful world, with an open heart and an empty stomach, I say unto you in the words of the guy who plays the chairman on Iron Chef America, who I remember being in the movie Double Dragon with Scott Wolf (that guy from Party of Five): Allez cuisine!
