I know, I know. I've been M.I.A. these last couple weeks. But today I'm popping up from my little cave with a brief production eats. The set I was on wasn't for a television show or a movie, it was a commercial. A Japanese beer commercial, in fact. So who knows, if I'll ever see that commercial anywhere. It was a multilingual set, which was pretty interesting. And it wasn't just Japanese and English being spoken all around.
Top clockwise: Salad (yummy greens), mashed potatoes, corn, barbecued chicken, dinner roll.
I was a bit surprised by the big portion sized piece of chicken they had served up. It may not seem like it in the picture, but it was pretty big. I will admit that this meal wasn't quite as satisfying as the previous production eats. Maybe it was a lack of seasoning. The chicken thigh was cooked well. Others at my table who had gotten the breast portion complained that it was a bit on the dry side. Good thing I didn't pick that. Eh...oh well. Not all meals can be cooked to perfection.
Dessert: A piece of carrot cake and pineapple.
Maybe it's just me, but why is it that dessert tends to come out better than the actual main entree. There was also come chocolate cake, but it looked like it would give me a nice sugar high. So I opted for the slightly "healthier" alternative and went for the carrot cake.
On to the next!

Production Eats No. 48
It's been a while since I've done a production eats post. So here's #48. Worked the show Big Bang Theory the other day. Sitcoms are fun to work on. The day I was there was on they day when they tape in front of a live audience. Yes, some shows are still taped in front of real people. The process of filming is slightly different compared to those scripted dramas, which is cool. Anyway... on to the eats.
For dessert, a peanut butter cookie and a chewy brownie. I nearly forgot to take a pic of the dessert hence why the cookie looks half eaten. I get eager for dessert before the entre. Has that ever happen to you? I guess my sweet tooth always wins out in the end.
Today's your last chance to enter the little giveaway of Girard's Dressing. Head on over right now to the link below and leave a comment to be entered. Don't miss out on this, if you haven't entered already.
Pineapple slices, Grilled Chicken, Garlic Bread, Salad with some balsamic dressing
My plate looks a bit small, but it was filling. The chicken tasty. It took me a while to cut through it with the flimsy utensil I had. But I did eat it up. Added a little kick to it by putting some tapatio hot sauce. I love me a good dose of hot sauce every once in a while.

Lastly, to all you marathon runners out there... any advice on training? I've started training for the LA Marathon, which I will be running in 2012. It's my first ever! I've always wanted to run it for several years now, but have always backed out, wimp out, or get lazy to do it. Now I'm taking that leap and kicking myself to do it. I've always love to run, but have been so busy these last couple of months that I have to get used to it all over again. What's your process to prepare?

Production Eats No. 47
It's bee n a while since I've done a production eats, so here you go. I short on another pilot. Which was a bit off as pilot season in the entertainment industry usually is usually around April/May. This was a night shoot which means no sleep. I mean literally no sleep for me. Okay may I did sneak in two hours as I had an early meeting the following day, then a birthday party and another meeting. So I was basically running on adrenaline. Haha...
Anyway...onto the good eats.
Anyway...onto the good eats.
Top left clockwise: Piece of bread, some salad with mushroom and olive in a balsamic dressing, some broccoli, rice and white fish with some tome tomato relish.
The fish was awesomely good and tender, which was paired nicely with the tomato relish. It had some red onion, cilantro and I believe capers. I was never too fond of capers until recently and I like it quite a bit.
For dessert, a nice small piece of german chocolate cake and fruit.
Who would pass up a piece of cake?

Production Eats. No 46
Well...In this edition of production eats, I'd have to say that this one is probably one of the best I've eaten in quite a while. This day I played a court clerk. So it was a long day of sitting, a few wardrobe changes, waiting and sitting some more, pretending to do desk work while the "court is in session". Oh... just the usual.
Top clockwise: glazed apples and carrots, slice of wheat bread, some string beans, crab salad, grilled asparagus with come shredded cheese on top, wild rice.
I loved the glazed carrots and apples. For some reason it reminded me of apple pie without the crust. Crab salad was tasty too, which I had spread into my piece of soft wheat bread.
I loved the glazed carrots and apples. For some reason it reminded me of apple pie without the crust. Crab salad was tasty too, which I had spread into my piece of soft wheat bread.
A sugar cookie and a chocolate chip cookie, salad and some blueberry and chocolate bread pudding.
I saved the cookies to much on in the afternoon. Bread pudding was awesome. Maybe because it had bits of chocolate in it (?).
Later that night...a second meal was offered. Usually if it's a long day, we're served more food. But most of the sets I've been on usually some kind of soup or pizza for us background folk. I do remember seeing some tortilla soup that night, if I remember correctly. But when an opportunity for something better comes along, you jump at the chance right?
Fishlips Sushi truck
Sushi!!! Maybe is was a Friday, I don't know and cared, but I wasn't going to let this pass me by. A lot of the time the good stuff is reserved for cast and crew. It's cool to be able to eat what they ate. I heard murmurs of the sushi truck being on the lot, but I was shooting several shots when everyone else took their turns. I patiently wait and eagerly make my way towards the truck.
I order the crunch roll, which is the 4 pieces California rolls with tempura crumbs, 1 tuna, 1 salmon, 2 shrimp, 1 mackrel (?) and some ginger and wasabe.
Oh that drink at the top is a lended mocha. There was a little coffee station by the stage with a guy whipping up lattes, cappucinos, iced or blended coffees. Maybe I was a little too excited about the sushi. I blame it on the caffeine, but it was a good "pick me up" for a long day.

Now onto today's Production Eats. This week was a pretty short. It's still pilot season in La La Land. I find it fascinating to be on the set of *possible* new shows. Not many make it and some do. Though, a lot of shows these days tend to go the "reality" route. That's another story. Let's check out what catering served up this time around. Different company from the previous two shows I worked on.
Broccoli, Grilled tilapia, dinner roll, fettucini with marinara
Have I ever mentioned that tilapia is probably one of my favorite fishes? I love that the edges had a nice little crisp to it from grilling. It was still tender with no fishy taste.
chocolate chip cookie, pineapple watermelon
There were also some pie there. One looked like raspberry and another looked like apple. I was content with my chocolate chip cookie.

Don't forget to stop by my film's Facebook page. Your support means a lot to us. We've worked hard on the film and proud of the outcome. We're excited to share it with you all. Thanks for being a loyal reader of B+B, too!!

Production Eats No. 44
Almost for got to post this production eats. Worked on another pilot this week. Funny little tidbit that happened to me on this set. The caters of this set had the same guys who worked on the same show I worked on the previous week. So when I happen to pass by two of them, they recognized me instantly. Haha... Not only do you get to know fellow actors, but you get to know the people who make the delicious food, too.
A piece of pecan pie and a slice of pineapple.
I won't be denied some pecan pie! hehehe... That is... unless they run out before I get to the catering table.
Top clockwise: roasted brussels sprouts, beans, mac and cheese, crusted fish, some caesar salad, a piece of cornbread.
The mac and cheese was thick. Haven't had it in a quite a long time. Well there were kids on this set, so why not give them some comfort food right?

Production Eats No. 43
Last week, I worked three days on a pilot. Actually it was three nights. Meaning working from sundown to sun up. i find that night shoots are a little more difficult as it take a bit more energy for me to keep myself awake when it comes to the 3am mark. Also it was freezing cold with I and my fellow background artists in makeup and costume.
It's currently pilot season here in La La Land meaning that productions are shooting the initial episode of possible new shows that could air in the fall. Though this was one a TV movie that was being shot. Not sure I kep hearing otherwise from different people.
DAY 1
Top clockwise: piece of bread, linguini with cream sauce, squash, grilled garlic broccoli, Chinese Sole (fish)
When they started cooking the meal a couple hours before, I could smell the garlic wafting through the tents of where we were waiting. That got me salivating for whatever they had planned for the garlic and when I tasted it in the broccoli, I wasn't disappointed. The meal on the first night did not disappoint as we had a long night ahead of us and full happy belly equals a happy me.
Some caesar salad and pasta salad, a wedge of pineapple and a piece of carrot cake.
The cake was nice and moist. I don't usually go for carrot cake, but If they all tasted that good I may just make an exception.
DAY 2
Grilled veggies, breaded tilapia with red onion and tomato salsa, and cous cous.
Loved the grilled veggies maybe it's because it had whole mushrooms in it. I haven't been that excited about mushrooms for a while. The tilapia was nice and tender. It did match really well with the salsa. a bit of tang to the mild flavor of the fish.
Bread, some caesar salad and corn salad, pineapple wedge, and carrot cake for dessert.
DAY 3
Top clockwise: White fish, bread, mashed potato, a couple piece of honeydew, veggies, rigatoni and marinara.
Creamy mashed potatoes were awesome. I was almost bummed when it came my turn to get food that they ran out, but low and behold a fresh pan was brought out I jump with delight. Literally! hehe...
Salad and lemon cake
A salad's a salad. and the lemon cake was a good ender to a good meal.
After working three nights and sleeping during the day, I hibernated all weekend long.

Production Eats No. 42
Issue Number 42. Worked 2 days on the show The Event. I haven't really seen the show, so I can't really tell you much of what it's about.
Day 1
Top left clockwise: Baked potato, white fish with red onion feta salsa, stuffed pasta, slice of french bread, rice with mushrooms, veggies.
I like the salsa for the fish. Red onion and feta was a good mix. I wish there was sour cream for the baked potato. That's usually the only way I can eat it, but ti was still good with a nice pat of butter.
Salad with honey mustard dressing and a nice chunk of fresh baked chocolate cake.
Moist delicious chocolaty cake. What's not to love about that? I devoured all the other stuff on my plate so that I can get to dessert. Yes, I was that eager for the cake.
Day 2
Top left closkcwise: Thick slice of caramelized sweet potato. Battered fish with tartar sauce, salad with some mushroom cripy noodles with honey mustard dressing, corn, a little rice, cous cous (center)
I was overly excited to see the sweet potato. Not too often I've seen caramelized versions of it on set. i should have gotten two. The fish was pretty good, too. It did make me think of fish and chips all of the sudden. The only thing missing was the malt vinegar and the chips. Hehe...
On the dessert bowl for this day were some pineapple chunks and a nice slice of crumb cake.
The cake part almost had a consistency of pound cake. Ooo...that's one thing I have to make.

Production Eats No. 41
This past week I worked on the show The Middle once again. It was a sort of long day being outside the whole time getting burnt by the bright sun. Portion of my arms, legs and face managed to get a bit of a tan. I guess I'm partially ready for summer. Ha! Now on to the lunch. The catering on the show is pretty tasty the previous time I was there. It was no surprise that it was tasty once again this time.
Top left clockwise: Pineapple slices, dinner roll, some veggies, Salad with mushrooms, fettucini with white sauce, grilled salmon.
I really liked the salmon. The crust had a nice crisp to it that I put into my little dinner roll to make a sandwich. The salad portion was some cesaer, I absent-mindedly topped it with a ladle of some vinaigrette. There was also a beef and chicken selection for those who wanted.
Dessert consisted of a fresh chocolate chip cookie and a nice chunky brownie. There was some rice crispy treats and some nice fresh warm peach cobbler. As tempting as it was, I had to restrain myself from over stuffing my already full stomach.

Production Eats No. 40
Friday, I worked on The Middle once again. This time on Warner Brothers Ranch in Burbank, not to be confused the main Warner Brothers Studios. Anyway... Same faces I've worked with on the previous days. By this point we all knew each other's name. Ha. At least most of us. So lunch comes around and I ponder what good eats catering will be coming up with today. I was pretty impressed with the selection they had give us on previous days. After the cast and crew got their shares it was time for the background to feast.
Inside the burrito: Some chicken fajita, pico de gallo, guacamole and sour cream on a large tortilla.
Apparently, I need to practice my burrito folding skills because mine kept falling all over my plate. Ha! I also added some of the mexican rice into it. Mmmm... They also had the choice of steak fajita, too. I stuck with the chicken since there wasn't any fish left. It looks like a blobby mess in the pic, but it was good. With a few dashes of tobasco and I'm good to go.
Of course the choco cookie and brownie. I did go back for a rice crispy treat though, I needed some sugar to keep me going into the night. There was also cake and pie and ice cream.
from Top right of burrito: Some avocado sliced, Mexican rice, pineapple slices,
chile rellenos and some salad.
I perked up a little when I saw the chile relleno. That's a first I've seen that on a set. Kudos to the catering guys on this set. A little bummed that they ran out of fish. I so wanted the fish, but that's what I get when I stand near the end of the line. There was also torilla soup and tamales from what I saw.

Production Eats No. 39
What as week this has been. Long tiring days, but with some delicious eats on set. Plus, I had a good book and some writing I got done, so I didn't mind one bit. This week I worked on the show The Middle. Monday tuesday Wednesday. Met some new people, stayed away from some eccentric ones and kept to myself when I need some "Me time"
The pasta reminded me a little of pot pie, which I've been wanting to make. The salmon was nice and tender with a little herb sauce on top or I think it was some herb sauce. Could be a thin tar tar sauce.
There was ice cream, cake, rice crispies treats also. ...For anyone who wanted. I was content with the cookie and brownie.
They did have pie and ice cream and rice crispies, but by the time I got to the dessert area the pie was gone. Darn!
Top left: Salad with a little vinaigrette, some plaices of honeydew, a dinner roll, some steak fries, lasagna stuffed large shells, fish, some cauliflower.
I loved the steak fries and I think so did everyone else, who I saw go back for seconds and maybe even thirds. Hehe
Sidenote: that morning while breakfast was being served they had chicken wings!!! That's a first that I've seen that. Aside from the traditional breakfast items. Seriously chicken wings at 9:30am. It was something I couldn't pass up. Made a little chicken sandwich with my biscuit and a dash of syrup. Brings to mind the whole chicken and waffles deal. :)
Day 1
Some salad with some balsamic vinaigrette pieces of stir-fry tofu, broiled potatoes, pasta in cream sauce with some veggies, some salmon.

Day 2
From top right: Salad with some pieces of fresh mozzarella and tomato. Penne pasta in red sauce, scallopped potatoes. Fish fillet, some veggies and a few wedges of pineapple.
I'm trying to figure out the fix. It could have been halibut or whitefish. I liked the scalloped potatoes. I love the portions near the edge of the pan and the crispy top. Mmmm...
For dessert: chocolate chip cookie with melted toffee, brownie and a dinner roll and a little packet of tapatio.
They did have pie and ice cream and rice crispies, but by the time I got to the dessert area the pie was gone. Darn!

Production Eats No. 38
First production eats of the year and we got some deliciousness up in here. Worked on the show Parenthood. I wasn't a busy day, but it seemed long. I guess it's because of the all the sitting. Small stuff here and there.
Top clockwise: a chocolate chip cookie, a sugar cookie, some cous cous salad, rice, potato wedges, stir-fry tofu, fish and tartar sauce, a dinner roll.
I haven't had this catering company before. I as actually surprised that they had tofu as one of the main dishes served rather than sitting out in the salad bar. Kind of hilarious when people inspect is and grumble at the thought or even at the sight of tofu in their midst. It funny really. The fish was nice and tender, which was complimented well with the tartar sauce.
The cookies were deliciously yummy.

Production Eats No. 37
Wednesday and Thursday of last week, I worked the show Make It or Break it. There was a lot of people and let's just say it made for an interesting day especially with the really long hours on both days.
They had some tamales during break later that night. Beef, chicken and cheese. I went for the cheese. It was pretty good. I haven't had tamales in such a long time and It made me crave for the ones a former co-worker's mo would make for the office I used to work in. And coffee was my companion as well on this day. I guess my mind was set on holiday break hence my lack of energy on set. Haha...
Day 1
Mixed veggies, turkey, salad, rice.
The turkey was tender. Though, I was a bit hungry after that plate. I didn't get much to begin with especially with a large group of us on that day. So I was left to nibble on the cookie I had gotten earlier in the day. It was tasty, though. They did serve up some hotdogs later.
On this day...coffee was my friend. I think this was cup number 2.
Day 2
Sauteed veggies, penne pasta in white sauce with mushrooms and chicken, an oatmeal cookie, and some caesar salad. Coffee was my friend on this day, too. I won't mention how many I had considering the fact that I'm not much of a coffee drinker to begin with.

Production Eats No. 36
For No. 36...I worked briefly on the second unit for a movie on Hollywood last Monday. Nothing big here. But we were served some pretty tasty lunch. Aside from the it was a pretty low-key day. A few shots here and there and back into our comfy bus to wait for the next spot to shoot at. It was mostly extra exterior shots.
Mashed poatoes and gracy, some salad (with some Italian dressing, cucumber, corn, peaches), roast pork with mushroom and onion sauce, grilled chicken, mixed veggies.
The mushroom sauce was really good. The catering company is a new one I haven't seen before. as many production tend to use a couple of the same companies over and over. The company for this set did a pretty good job.
For dessert...a square slice of chocolate cake, a chocolate chip cookie, and a couple slices of pineapple. Cake was rich and moist. Mmmm.... If you can't tell by now I'm a total chocoholic. :)

Production Eats No. 35
So today's Production Eats comes courtesy from working a commercial. It was a pretty fun small shoot and a little more relaxing. I was 1 of 2 background performers chosen for the spot. Not bad, I think. I gotta do more commercials. :) The only downside was driving home during rush hour. Ha.
Potatoes, sauteed carrots, a wheat dinner roll with butter, freshly grilled chicken, some spaghetti, a little salad with some sesame dressing and a few slices of pineapple.
There was also some seared tuna and freshly grilled steaks. I was tempted to grab a piece, but the chicken was already pretty big and I didn't want to push it. One of the neat things about working on small shoots is that catering is always a little better than working the larger shoots.
For dessert, a square piece of cheese cake and a chocolate chip cookie!!! Yum yum!! Delicious cookie.
You know it's a good day when the craft service guy lets you take home the left over gummy bears in a cup. A nice little snack as I drove home in traffic during rush hour on the 405 north, 101 south, 134 east freeways. Those in LA know what I'm talking about. :) Good ol' LA freeway system.

Production Eats No. 34
It's time for another edition of Production Eats. The show for today's meal is from The Cape. It's a new show that hasn't aired yet. I think it's a mid-season show. It was a relatively short day with me playing a business/lawyer type looking official witha fake ID badget and "case" file.
A couple slices of tomato with a piece of mozarella, some grilled fish, a dinner roll with some parmesan melted on top, a little brown rice, fettucini in alfredo sauce, some scalloped potatoes and a small piece of grilled chicken.
It seems like a lot, but it's really small scoops and portions of the stuff being served. I like to taste a little of everything. :)
A little bit o' salad with some thousand island dressing and a chocolate chip cookie for dessert. This time I made sure I got the right dressing for my salad. The cookie was a given. Who would resist a soft cookie? One in particular that has chocolate.
Last, but not least...a mango smoothie. Granted it was chilly cold in terms of weather, but I didn't care. I love mangoes and I love smoothies and I wasn't going to pass this one up.

Production Eats No.33
Short PE post today. Once again I worked the show No Ordinary Family. This wasn't a super long day. The usual 6am call time. But for some reason my energy was just lagging. I did have a nice omelette for breakfast and coffee, so that game me a good boost of energy. It was a pretty chill day in Santa Anita, CA, which is about 30 minutes from LA. They have the famed race track where portions of the film Seabiscuit was filmed. There's also a nice mall there.
Top clockwise: grille salmon, a slice of tri-tip with mushroom gravy sauce, a slice of french bread, roasted potatoes, broccoli, and a scoop of fried rice.
I didn't really eat the tri-tip as much. It was good and tender. I did take a small bite, but I was more in it for the mushroom gravy that I scooped up with the bread and potatoes. Mmm...mushroom gravy.
Some spinach greens with a couple grape tomatoes, croutons and a little blue cheese dressing. and a little crab salad. Yum yum!!
I like crab. I've been craving crab lately and this helped with that craving. For the spinach salad, I thought it was ranch dressing. Sometimes they never label them, so I'm left to guess which is which. And certain dressing do look alike. Have I mentioned that I'm not really a fan of blue cheese. Granted, I will still eat it, but it's just not my favorite cheese.
